Located on the southern coast of Sicily, Licata is a charming seaside town known for its golden beaches, crystal-clear waters, and rich history. Just an hour’s drive from Caltanissetta, Licata is the perfect getaway for those seeking sun, sea, and a taste of authentic Sicilian culture.
Hidden corner of the Licata coast, it is perhaps precisely for this reason that it retains much of its natural beauty. A cove nestled between the most renowned beaches of Torre San Nicola and La Rocca; getting there is not easy at all, you need to know the place and once you leave the vehicles, take a nice walk to the beach. The view is immediately enchanting thanks to the shape of the beach. From above, in fact, you can dominate the landscape, and once you reach the beach, the crystal-clear water will welcome you.
The beach takes its name from the islet that emerges a few dozen meters from the shore, the Rocca indeed, today an almost indispensable stop for boats, canoes, and pedal boats, but in the past, it served as a docking point for naval fleets engaged in long journeys across the Mediterranean.
And here, one of the greatest naval battles fought in antiquity might have taken place; we are in 256 BC, Romans and Carthaginians face off in the context of the First Punic War. The water is often clear thanks to the action of currents and the lack of obstacles that prevent stagnation.
The beach, despite being very popular, also offers slightly more isolated areas in addition to the namesake beach resort that provides all the services associated with a bathing establishment: bar, cabins, sunbeds, parking, and more for comfort lovers.
Not many words are needed for this beach, being among the most popular with Licata's bathers and the entire hinterland.
Mollarella is certainly the most renowned beach of the Licata coastline, crowded during the day but also in the evening, given the presence of restaurants and beach clubs that often organize events during the summer.
A beach of undisputed scenic beauty, the postcard-like view enjoyed from above, with the promontory bordering the beach
For various reasons, it is one of the must-see spots for those who want to enjoy the sea of Licata.
Several factors play in its favor, from its location, just a few steps from the center, to the diversity it offers, both in terms of services and variety of the coast.
For long stretches sandy, it offers in its final part, at the border with the Nicolizia area, large coves and diving opportunities. The beach is one of the largest in Licata, extending for several kilometers. The first stretch is very crowded and offers services, thanks to the presence of several beach clubs.
However, it is after a walk (on the sand) of about 10 minutes that Marianello offers the best of itself.
